An investor group represented by the independent Zurich-based multi-family office Verium acquires a stake in the Toradex group («Toradex»). The four founders of Toradex and the management will remain significant shareholders in the company thereby guaranteeing the continuity.
Toradex is a worldwide leading B2B provider of modular computing platforms, so called «computer-on-modules» used in a variety of industrial applications (e.g. cash registers, medical devices, coffee machines, laboratory instruments, drones, production machines, navigation systems, motor vehicles). The company has a diversified basis of approximately 3,500 customers in over 70 countries. Driven by fundamental trends, such as “Industry 4.0” and “Internet of Things”, the level of automation and the number of connected devices are rapidly increasing. With its standardized, high-quality and extensive product range, Toradex offers ideal solutions and has achieved a worldwide leading position in this market.
With nine locations in Europe, Asia, North and South America, Toradex has a global distribution network ensuring proximity to its customers and enabling 24-hour support in the respective local language. The products are exclusively sold through direct sales or via online shop. The efficient and highly scalable business model includes an outsourced production, a reliable support service and a standardised, but versatile product portfolio.
Toradex was established in 2003 and since then the four founders Stephan Dubach, Dr. Ronald Vuillemin, Germano Kern and Andreas Kiser have successfully turned it from a small contract developer into a globally operating and respected company. Dr. Ronald Vuillemin will continue to serve on the Board of Directors and dedicates himself to the establishment of “semilimes”, his fifth start-up company. Additionally, Stephan Dubach and the two Verium representatives, Marc Erni and Dr. Matthias Huber, will also join the board. Germano Kern and Andreas Kiser will continue to serve in their current positions.
In this transaction, Verium was advised by Skillnet (commercial), PwC (financial, tax and structuring) and Wenger & Vieli (legal). Toradex was supported by Lincoln International (M&A advisor), Baker & McKenzie (legal) and KPMG (financial).
